Beautiful “chandelier” made of 15 world globes. This 2m high piece of art was made by Benoit Vieubled and called “Monde à l’endroit, Monde à l’envers”.

I’m a couple days late, but ref it for the future… text written by Helga Darling.

June 2nd, 1975. Lyon, France. A bunch of sex workers occupied a church in an act of protest against discrimination and failure by police to investigate or prosecute crimes against them. The cops responded by threatening to take their children away if they did not vacate the church.
Once this threat was uttered, the situation changed dramatically. Non sex working women from the town were shocked from their complacency, and joined the sex workers in the church, rendering the police unable to tell who was and wasn’t a sex worker. Bit of an “I am Spartacus” moment at that. International Whores Day is held every June 2nd, to commemorate this action. It is considered to be one of the formative moments of what we now know as the sex worker’s rights movement. Please wear anything red on June 2nd to support and commemorate International Whores Day.Sex Work is Work! No Bad Whores, Just Bad Laws.

Awesome moments in history; thanks for sharing!

"Look, guys. No matter what a girl does, no matter how she’s dressed, no matter how much she’s had to drink, it’s never, never, never, never, never okay to touch her without her consent. That doesn’t make you a man, it makes you a coward."

“I only believe in abortions in cases of rape.”

Can we take a second to analyze this statement?

If you were truly “pro-life”, you would value the fetus no matter what circumstance it was conceived through. What you’re actually more concerned with is whether or not the pregnant person’s sex life abides by your personal set of morals.

Bolded for emphasis.

…but section 805 of the 296-page bill passed by the House Wednesday authorizes officials to destroy any shipment of prescription drugs valued at $2,000 or less, for any reason.

That pretty much means…

Shit! Is there anything we can do to get this law repealed?

"It doesn’t matter that most people with uteri are women. That’s not why it’s misogynistic. People who oppose abortion do so because they hate women, and in their mind the only people with uteri are women. It’s an intersection of cissexism and misogyny where a cissexist framing of bodily association to gender is used as a tool of oppression against women."

Angry Banette: PSA: Trans* women who don't wear makeup are still women.

iamnotjayden:

In response to the post going around about trans* men who do wear makeup…

Not all trans* women wear makeup. This does not make them unwomen. So, STFU with the “if they don’t wear makeup they’re not even trying” thing.

Not all cis women wear makeup and they don’t generally get…

ALL OF THIS.

“Do I get stress headaches at work? Yes, definitely. From the moment I get in, it’s “Denise we need this! Denise we need that!” Which is stressful… ‘cause my name is Linda. Denise is the other black woman that works here. By 10am, someone in the copy room makes a joke about Kobe Bryant, and everyone looks at me to make sure it’s ok. And I smile like it’s ok. But really, my head and neck are starting to throb. Then I spend the rest of my afternoon training my interns, and answering their questions, like, “Yes, black people use shampoo”, and, “No, I don’t know any good reggae clubs around here”, and, “Yes, Condoleezza Rice is very articulate, why do you sound so surprised?” And, “No, I can’t tell you where to buy weed!” And that’s when I reach for Excedrin.”

This is brilliant.
